What is Tallow?
Simply put, Tallow is an ingredient rendered from animal fat. Tallow can be made from animals like cows, sheep, and Bison. Visually, at room temperature, Tallow almost looks like a hybrid of coconut oil and butter. For centuries Tallow was used in a variety of ways. Animal fats were used for cooking, candles, medicinal salve, and skin-care products. Scientist believe that the Ancient Sumerians & Egyptians were the first to use animal fats for skin-care routine. Early evidence of animal fat use for skin-care dates back to 3000 BC. Tallow remained in our relatives skin-care routine until the Industrial Revolution introduced more shelf-stable, chemically derived products.
What are the benefits of using Tallow?

Tallow is packed with essential fat-soluble vitamins and nutrients that our skin needs to thrive. In fact, Tallow contains similar properties as our own skin. Human cell-membranes are composed of 50% saturated fatty acids while the remaining half is made up from monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. Tallow's ratio is very similar - with ~55% of it's make-up coming from saturated fats. These similarities make Tallow uniquely compatible with our skin profile. Grass-fed Tallow is far more superior than grain-fed Tallow as it contains higher levels of Vitamin E and Omega-3 fatty acids.
